Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do miniatures and models arrive painted?

No. Unless a product listing specifically says otherwise, resin miniatures and model kits are supplied unpainted.

Some product images may show digital renders or painted examples for reference. The description will explain what is included with the physical product.

Do models arrive assembled?

Most resin miniatures and model kits arrive unassembled.

The product description will state the number of parts and whether a base is included. Some assembly, test-fitting, and light cleanup may be required before priming and painting.

Are supports removed?

Yes. Supports are removed before shipment, and each component is cleaned and inspected.

Minor support marks or light surface cleanup may remain, especially on complex parts or hidden contact areas. This is normal for resin 3D-printed models.

What material do you use?

We use high-quality resin selected for crisp detail, dependable printing, and improved durability.

The exact resin or resin blend may vary by product based on size, detail, strength requirements, and intended use.

Are resin miniatures fragile?

Resin models contain fine details and should be handled carefully.

Thin weapons, antennas, fingers, cables, effects, and decorative components can break if bent or dropped. We inspect and package delicate parts carefully, but resin miniatures should be treated as hobby models rather than toys.

Are bases included?

Bases are included only when stated in the product description.

Each listing will explain whether the product includes a scenic base, generic base, multiple bases, or no base.

Can you resize a model?

Custom sizing is available for many products.

Contact us before ordering with the product name and desired size. Some models cannot be resized reliably because of thin details, joint tolerances, minimum wall thickness, or other design limitations.

How is miniature scale measured?

Scale can vary between designers and product lines.

Whenever practical, we provide measurements such as foot-to-eye height, total assembled height, base size, or other relevant dimensions. Review each product description carefully before ordering.

Are the product images photographs or digital renders?

Listings may contain official digital renders provided by the designer, photographs of physical prints, or both.

We identify the supplied product condition in the description. Painted renders and display images do not mean the physical model arrives painted.

Are these physical products or digital files?

Products sold through the store are physical 3D-printed items unless a listing clearly states otherwise.

Digital STL files are not included, transferred, or sold with physical prints.

Are your miniature products licensed?

Applicable designer-created miniatures and models are sold as physical prints under active commercial licenses.

The original designer is credited in each applicable product listing. Ownership of the underlying digital design remains with the original rights holder.

How long does production take?

Most products are made to order.

The estimated processing time shown on the product page or during checkout covers printing, cleaning, curing, inspection, preparation, and packaging. Carrier transit time begins after shipment and is separate from production time.

Large, multipart, custom-sized, or high-quantity orders may require additional time.

Will I receive tracking?

Most shipped orders include tracking.

Tracking information will be sent to the email address entered during checkout after the package has been transferred to the carrier.

What should I do if something arrives broken or is missing?

Contact us within 7 days of delivery and include:

  • Your order number
  • A description of the issue
  • Clear photographs of the item
  • Photographs of the shipping box and packaging when damage occurred during shipping

We will review the issue and work toward an appropriate resolution, which may include replacement parts, a replacement product, or a refund.

Do you accept returns?

Eligible standard products may be returned according to our Return and Refund Policy.

Items must generally be unused, unpainted, unassembled, and unaltered. Custom-sized, personalized, modified, and customer-supplied-file orders are generally not returnable for change of mind.

Can I send you my own STL file?

Yes. Precision Layers offers resin and filament printing for customer-supplied files.

To request a quote, provide the file, desired dimensions, quantity, material preference if applicable, intended use, and any deadline.

You must own the file or have permission to reproduce it.

Do you provide 3D sculpting or design services?

We focus on physical 3D printing and production.

We do not currently provide full 3D sculpting, character creation, or major model-design services. Minor file preparation may be possible depending on the project, but it is not guaranteed.

Can you modify my STL file?

Simple scaling or basic print preparation may be available.

We generally do not provide major redesign, sculpting, engineering changes, part replacement, or extensive file repair. Contact us with the file and requested change so we can determine whether the project is feasible.

Do you accept custom-print requests?

Yes.

Use our Contact Us page and include:

  • The printable file or a secure file-sharing link
  • Desired dimensions
  • Quantity
  • Resin or filament preference, if known
  • Intended use
  • Desired completion date
  • Any important strength, detail, or finish requirements

We will review the project and let you know whether it is feasible before providing a quote.
